In a tweet shared earlier today, OpenAI stated: “Code Interpreter will be available to all ChatGPT Plus users over the next week. It lets ChatGPT run code, optionally with access to files you’ve uploaded. You can ask ChatGPT to analyze data, create charts, edit files, perform math, etc. Plus users can opt-in via settings.”

What is the Code Interpreter?

The Code Interpreter is an innovative feature that enables ChatGPT to run code. But that’s not all – you can also grant the AI access to files that you have uploaded. This allows ChatGPT to analyze data, create charts, edit files, perform mathematical calculations, and much more, making it an incredibly versatile tool for both programmers and non-programmers alike.

Who can access this feature?

This feature is being rolled out to ChatGPT Plus users. ChatGPT Plus is a subscription plan offered by OpenAI that provides users with general access to ChatGPT and several additional benefits.

Some Plus users have automatically been enrolled in the beta, but the general public Plus users will fully have the tool sometime over the next week.

How to enable the Code Interpreter?

ChatGPT Plus users who are eager to try out this new feature can easily opt-in via their settings. Once enabled, they can start interacting with ChatGPT in ways that were not possible before. It works similar to a plugin that would allow you to do math, but has a lot more capabilities and works very well with python & other data science code sets.

What does this mean for you?

Whether you’re a student, data analyst, developer, or someone who just loves to tinker with code, this new feature will undoubtably change the way you work.

You can ask ChatGPT to help you with complex data analysis, automate file editing, or even teach you coding by running examples. The potential applications are limitless.

We’ve used it ourselves to analyze excel sheets to crunch together finance data. Then we were able to ask questions directly relating to the answers from our sheet.

Make sure to keep an eye on your ChatGPT Plus settings over the next week so you can be among some of the first to experience the new feature.
