30 years of celebration.

2022 marks the 30th Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPIHM). May was chosen because it  marks the immigration of the first Japanese nationals to the United States (May 7, 1843,) as well as the completion of the transcontinental railroad (May 10, 1869.) 

A very big tent.

The term “Asian-American-Pacific-Islander” covers a large number of very distinct ethnicities and peoples, including all of the Asian continent, as well as the Pacific islands of Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. RingCentral’s Pan-Asian Network Employee Resource Group wants us all to know – everyone’s voice is heard here…and also that those voices have recipes to share. “For AAPI Heritage Month, one of the things that we have going is a weekly internal post called #TakeoutThursdays where we share really authentic, really traditional recipes from all the different regions of Asia – maybe even some you’re not as familiar with, like Bangladesh or the Philippines,” says Diversity Equity and Inclusion Program Coordinator (and ERG member) Janice Vu. “It’s a way to connect through food but also the things we’re all familiar with — like ordering Indian or Chinese takeout.”

Leadership Through Collaboration.

RingCentral’s Pan-Asian Network Employee Resource Group (ERG)’s theme for AAPI Heritage Month is Advancing Leadership Through Collaboration. According to Vu, it’s a meaningful way to use our own tools to build community and support. “We have a really unique technology platform, and it’s great to be able to use it to share ideas, opportunities and really lift one another up personally or professionally. This month, we’re really doubling down on using these incredible collaboration tools to lead. ”
