The difference between success and failure for an organization can often come down to having the right employees. Thus, taking care of human resources properly can provide various benefits to companies, irrespective of their size. Though several organizations today use HRMS software to manage employees, most of them only offer a portion of the services that companies truly need. While they can solve some of their users’ problems, modules like performance management, statutory compliance, and employee records management are often missing in most HRMS solutions. Thankfully, there are also a few providers who offer end-to-end HR management software for organizations.
Indovision is one of India’s biggest names when it comes to providing comprehensive HRMS solutions for SMEs. The company has made its name due to its stellar software services and the support it offers for hiring and training employees for their clients worldwide.
We are fortunate to have interviewed Mr. Vinay Aggarwal, the CEO of Indovision, and know about his journey, learnings, and vision for the future.
In Conversation with Mr. Vinay Aggarwal, CEO of Indovision Services Pvt. Ltd
Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
A warm welcome from SoftwareSuggest Mr. Vinay Aggarwal. Our readers are keen to know what prompted you to create Indovision Services Pvt. Ltd? Tell us about your journey so far?
We are 3 founders, myself, Rajiv Mittal, and Suchi Aggarwal. We all had a long career working with MNCs. In 2012, we decided to take the plunge and start a services organization that can focus on different services while keeping ‘Human’ at the core of it.
What separates Indovision Services Pvt. Ltd from its competitors?
Most of our competitors in the HRMS space are software companies. We not only make the software but also have a huge portfolio of end to end services business as well.
Indovision was started as a services company, and we handled HR-related challenges like Payroll, Performance Management, Attendance, Statuary compliance like PF, ESI, managing Employee records from offer to exit first hand. Initially, around 2016-2017, we used some 3rd party HR software to deal with those issues but we were not entirely satisfied, so we decided to develop our own software from scratch which can cater to the complete solution keeping in mind small and mid-size Indian companies.
We have a non-modular approach, so once you take our software, you don’t need to worry about spending extra money for extra features as most of our competitors may start low, but as you ask for more features, their pricing keeps increasing.
What are the lessons that you need to remember in order to make it big in this industry?
As I said, we have a mass user base of our product, and more than 1200 of our employees use it daily, so we keep getting feedback internally about our product. From the very start, we are focusing majorly on 3 points:
The product should be user friendly.
One must continuously enhance as per customer and market requirements. For example, work from home, geo-attendance, Retina/ facial recognition-based attendance were new requirements during the corona pandemic. We recognized and implemented it.
One shall provide excellent after-sales customer support to win a loyal customer base.
Can we get a sneak peek at the work culture at Indovision Services Pvt. Ltd?
We have a very open work culture. We don’t have any boss cabins. Everyone sits on the same floor including myself. We have no hierarchy. For functional and operational purposes, we have designations like Manager, VP, Director, etc. but literally, a fresher can talk to the CEO around day-to-day work issues freely. Our main goal is how we can empower people and how we can provide better services to our clients. This is the goal we work with every single day.
How has your sales & marketing strategy evolved during the shift from normal to new-normal?
Our salespeople have adopted technology, and now Cisco Webex, team meetings are very common. I would say that customers have also opened up for virtual meetings, and that has really helped in speeding up the decision-making process as F2F meeting can take weeks if not months, and that can stall the process.
What new and exciting updates can we expect from Indovision Services Pvt. Ltd in the near future?
We are continuously working to make our product better. As of now, we are working with various Bio-metric device vendors to make them interoperable with our HRMS so that our customer has a wide range of OEMs to choose their Bio-matric devices. We are also working to bring Retina and face recognition features. Besides HRMS, we are also working to develop a full-fledged ERP that should launch commercially in 2022.
What was the one realization or learning during your journey that helped you grow in this field?
The customer is the King. This is the motto of the service industry. Our tag line is “We work for your smile.” So if your customer is happy, then your growth is certain.
“ICT” is a fast-growing and constantly innovating industry. If we don’t upgrade ourselves, then we won’t be able to meet the customer requirements. So we also keep upgrading ourselves like software version.
Would you like to share some interesting stats/ numbers for our readers – pre-pandemic versus current times?
It’s no secret that sales are down this year as companies are focusing on “must-have” as compared to “nice to have,” and I am afraid that many companies have put in HRMS or automation as a whole in the “nice to have” bracket. Still, many companies are working on Excel for payroll processing and attendance management, but I would like to say that earlier you switch to a software-based system for HR and Pay-rolling, it would be better for the company. Otherwise, month over month, data would keep piling up, and then you will have a much bigger task to automate. Ultimately automation is the only solution in the long run.
The year 2020 has been unprecedented, with the COVID-19 pandemic leaving a deep impact on the health and the economic front, and it will take some more time before we return to normalcy. But the “blessing in disguise” for automation companies is, the “work from home” culture, making digitization an integral part of the process. Even our Government is also focusing on digitization in ERP, Apps, and software adoption to handle the operations smoothly. Similarly, corporates also need software like HRMS to make the day-to-day processes comfortable for the HR and employees.
